Edwin Walthall

 

Edwin Walthall has been an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (currently, The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)) since 1948. Born in San Antonio, Texas, he received the B.A. degree from the University of Texas in Austin, the Th.M. degree from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and the M.Ed. from Trinity University in San Antonio. He served pastorates in Houston, Navasota, Dallas, and San Antonio, Texas, and in Morrilton, Arkansas. From 1981 - 1995 Ed served as a Parish Associate and Associate Pastor at the First Presbvterian Church in San Antonio, the church in which he grew up, where his responsibilities were older adult ministry and pastoral care. With his wife, Margaret, he began an older adult group known as K.E,Y,S (Keeping Everybody Young in Spirit). Ed also trained and organized a 51-member Board of Deacons to do lay pastoral ministry, including regular visits to hospitals and nursing homes, and the care of those confined at home or experiencing grief.

Margaret and Ed Walthall have two children. Ned, who constructed this web site, lives in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, and daughter Meredith lives in San Antonio. Since his retirement, Margaret and Ed enjoy reading (history, novels, and mysteries), the music of the San Antonio Symphony, and baseball as season ticket holders for San Antonio's AA professional team, the Missions.
